Just did the same thing and got the lg550 a mth ago on a free hr plan. Heard it worked better than the 500 with the bullbar aerials. Works well and uses the old cdma 9db aerial I had. Car kit I got for free. Push Telstra for it. Was told they only supply it free if you ask, otherwise they charge the unsuspecting $329. - mungrels.
I like the feature where I can check my bill for free by accessing the website from the phone or i just ring 125 111 for free and get transferred to the right dept. - good for any enquiry - 125 111 is free from mobiles.

Heard the new Nokia has proiblems with the aerials.

Don't get the cheap plan Telstra mobiles, they're rubbish out of the city. We pay $40/mth with a free hr and the bill said we spent $320 worth in our free hr.

Would you care to elaborate, or are you just disseminating unfounded "rumours"?

The only "problem" I have with the 6120 is that a cradle to connect the external aerial is not yet available.

Otherwise, one of the best units on the market IMO.

Info came from a Telstra countrywide rep in Roma a mth or so ago. He advised to get the lg550, the Nokia couldn't be connected to my external aerial. I wanted the Nokia again but he couldn't tell me then whether it would be resolved down the track. To me that was a problem worth mentioning here.

Mate,

I don't have a problem with you mentioning it, but you must quantify your statement so it is not misleading to other readers.

The new Nokia cannot connect to an external aerial at present.
Yep, that is correct.
A cradle is yet to be released to enable this.
It is not yet known whether this will provide a direct connection, or via a coupler. The cradle is due for release in November I believe.

I've just bought the new Motorola V90. Seems pretty good. It can take a patch lead to connect to an aerial but I probably won't bother.

I chose the $49 cap that gives me $250 worth of calls per month.

Who do you call?
with a pre paid sim you can get about $300 OF calls to 5 numbers with a $40 recharge
BUT (and now telstra wont tell you this)
IF your 5 numbers are Telstra ALL calls and text to these numbers no time limits etc are FREE on a $30 plan
I smashed my phone bill to peices using this. The guy in the teklstra shop didnt know about it and i dont think it was on the web. The only reason i found out about it was an Indian lady offering it too me when trying to get the 5 numbers for $300 credit on the $40 plan

Hi Ron, just had a Samsung A412 delivered from Telsta. It & the
LG 550 are supposed to give better reception in the bush. Cant
prove that yet, but it was $0 on a $20 plan so price was right. I
believe a full car kit to be available but will see how it goes first.

Funny you should say that Barry (better reception). As a family business,we have a few new nextG phones. One LG 550 with patch lead/ cdma broomstick in western nsw gets less reception than the new nokia 6120 which sits in a home made cradle with a proximity type boosterl suitable to a gsm phone, but linked to cdma aerial. Telstra said it wouldn't work, but it shines. I'm happy as i have a nokia phone (without the blue tick of approval ) which is a good phone and it performs wherever a LG 550 does and some.
