G'day

No I am not ghoul, but I am after a couple of pictures of 4WD's that have been in rollovers, and grossly overloaded 4WD's for a article I am writing for my clubs magazine. If you have any that you can post or email please let me know.

Thanks in Advance

This is a photo of a photo hanging on the wall of the Mt Dare hotel.
If I've remembered correctly, it was a french tourist driving on a virtually straight peice of road and got caught in some ruts.
All Vehicle occupants got some injurys.
If someone knows better please refresh my memory.

Thanks everyone for the rollover pics, what I need now is a shot of a overloaded 4WD. I vaugely recall an advert for either suspension or roofracks that showed a older Pajero with a roofrack that had everything including a full double mattress on top, and was sitting right down of the suspension. Anyone remember what product that was for?

Cheers

Amazing that none of thosephoto's show anything that looks like being overloaded. May be when we are loaded up we are a bit more carefull or maybe no-one has posted the picks.

Phil,

What are you .........a rollover magnet or something. Remind me not to be in your group at Easter!

Yep, I'm a rollover magnet! those 3 photos were taken in 2001, 2005, and 2006. But i guess you know, I do go on the occasional outback trip :-))

Yep you're right - none overloaded and all 3 were on standard height suspension. The Troopie was travelling on gravel at the end of a long days drive, and took a corner a bit too fast. the second one was travelling a bit too fast over a crest, and I expect on the wrong side of the road. The 3rd one hit a wombat hole on a very greasy track at 40kph and spun around!

Excessive speed seems to me to be the biggest factor in outback rollovers. The 4wds drive too smooth these days - gives a false sense of safety.

I'm looking forward to the Easter trip. I haven't been away since October!!

Probably the most frequent rollovers in the outback is "Fritz in a Britz". Big factor here is speed, and they loose control on the gravel, with a bit of the wrong camber, then roll their Troopie. Discos seem to roll a lot too.

Hey Phil

The Prado above was Fritz in a Thrifty, But it happened on Britz corner.

The people were not hurt, but the sad part was the car was left like this after they had been picked up by a tour group No names as they are my opposition, nothing was done to secure the site.

Anja and I were on a day off so we went for a drive, this is when we found it, I had to turn off the key first there was petrol every were, I used 2 snatch straps and pulled it on its wheels and then undid the battery, then I dragged it off the road.

We did this with the help of others EG stopping traffic, The car was in a very bad spot. so this is why I moved it, we took photos before and after we rang the police and I got abused by some front desk clerk for moving it, once the police arrived they thanked me for doing the right thing.

Cheers Steve.

if it's an overloaded fourby photo you want, then go sit at the barges going to fraser island, some of those backpacker troopies are rediculous with the way they stack the roofracks up. surely someone who's been to fraser might have what your chasing, in saying that i've been there heaps and never photographed one of the vehicles, just said to mates "holy crap look at that".
