Article Overview - GPS for Laptops and PDAs
Laptops and PDAs are very popular devices and it’s great to know that you can power them with GPS equipment. View Full Article...
Am suffering the GPS horrors despite reading Exploroz's many threads.
I downloaded the "free" Mapsource, entered the 25 character unlock code but was then required to enter a product code. I entered a legit code which I received when I upgraded CityNavigator. The code was rejected because it had already been used!

How do I get the "free" Mapsource to work?

Free Mapsource? Are you sure?

I looked at the Garmin website and there is no mention of a free Mapsource product.

There is an upgrade but you must already own a previous version.

Perhaps some Garmin guru will supply further information.
I don't use it myself.

I believe one can download a free copy of mapsource from a certain website that contains a "shonky" mapset.

Is this the site you are after:

http://shonkylogic.net/shonkymaps/

I have this loaded on my Garmin as the basemap - It's a much better basemap than the garmin one

Kevin, you might just need to try it a few times. I think I had to do that when I set mine up. Also, you have to load the Garmin Training Centre I think. Check out member Doug T's website for lots of Garmin info.
