Hi.
To all the round oz travellers,as we are going around oz with caravan starting in July, could you recommend any particular Australian road atlas that gives the most detail?I have looked at many and they all have their good and bad points.
Thanks in advance

Hi Kman.
The "Camps 5" is about the best. It has road maps as
well as all the
free camp areas, and very detailed with whats there, all over Australia. It is better known as the "The Bible" for travellers. Probably about as good a map in there than anywhere.

I might also add, pay the bet extra and get the big Camps 5, the one with the pictures in it. It's around $79.95, but worth every $.

Gidday Kman
Get the latest edition of Hema’s Australian Road Atlas.
In a moment of madness I bought Camps Australian Wide 5, and regretted it ever since. Talk about overpriced!
I find it’s easier to talk to the locals in town, and they’ll usually suggest a good spot to
camp along the way.

Kim

I totally agree Kim.
Bought my spiral bound version through the RAA of SA and I would assume other State Motoring bodies would also have them.
(Couldn't find them under Maps in the
ExplorOz Shop but they may be hidden there somewhere)

Camps 5 contains a smaller version of the Hema Road Atlas. Has all the same maps, just smaller page size; we have not found it a waste of money at all. I t has helped make it easier to plan trips and get ideas. I think it's moey
well spent.
We use the Hema Easy Read Road & 4wd Atlas. Its bigger & bulkier, but easier to read.

Would recommend the Hema "Australian Road and 4WD Atlas" - comes in two sizes - we bought the larger of the two, being spiral bound and 40cm x 30cm - nice big maps with all the usual Hema info in abundance. $36 from a camping store in
Esperance a few months back.

Another vote for that one, and as others have said the same maps are used in Camps 5. With those 2 books and reasonable map reading skills you are
well equipped to go most
places.
Cheers,
Val
