Price of second hand motor homes?

Motor homes not my cup of tea. Ok for the highway but that is about all. There are some very nice ones out there but as you say $$$$$$$

I will stick with my camper trailer for now and maybe update to a off road van later on.

What people ask and what they actually get are two completely different things!

Ring some of these ads in 3 months and i can guarantee they will still have them.

I agree , they do ask plenty for second hand motor homes , some years back on a hot day in Jan I saw a couple drive into a park connect to electricity set the aircon on and sit with the windscreen facing the sun , it took a long time to cool down . Next day they had to pack everything up to go sightseeing and shopping . We only take the van at Easter and Xmas but it hardly ever goes off the asphalt . All of our travelling on the rougher roads are done in a tent . We did buy a new offroad Jayco Dove in 02 but sold it in 06 to buy the van as we knew it was too good to take where we wanted to go and it was easier to tent it than to tow anything . We have been using a van since 64 and I was started tenting it on my own in the early 50s .

Unfortunately there is no perfect setup. No matter what you settle on - someting will be compromised.
We have both. A 7m Hino motorhome, a Ford Ranger with a hybrid motorcycle carrier/campertrailer. My wife drives a Daihatsu Terios which can be "A" framed behind the MH.

It all depends on the trip or destination as to which is most suitable.

Some on this thread have pointed out the problem of packing up a MH. When we camp with the 4x4 we also usually have a roll out awning each side and plumbing connections to a Glind shower system (with shower tent) and another shower tent for the Porta Potti. So in practicle terms the MH is much easier to pack and hit the road.

The MH is much more convenient when travelling, as both toilet and shower are accessable without even getting out. Ours has a 60 L waste tank and we can shower anywhere there is a bit of flat ground. Necessary in order to have the shower tray drain correctly. We have had occasion to need to move during the night while parked in a roadside rest area. Either noisy cattle train or refrigerated van or rowdy party goers. Easy with the MH - just hop in the drivers seat and move - no need to even get dressed. There is no need to exit the vehicle as would be necessary with a CT or caravan.

We've just had a couple of weeks at Gregory Downs / Lawn Hill - and decided the MH was more convenient. But can't take a MH to Cape York or through the Simpson or Canning Stock Route.

Like I said at the start - need to compromise something. The MH with the Terios in tow is our best option.
