Horrible experience with these things. The webpage advertises that foam is injected under pressure to insulate the box. When I put my torch against it the other week it went straight thru; NO FOAM!!!!!!

Reason for the torch was I had a leak in the bottom and I was looking for the crack. Now I returned the box to them 4 weeks ago. Up until before Xmas they said they didn't receive it, now they are not answering their phones for the past few days (no answering message) though their webpage is saying they are open. Are they out of business (I wouldn't be suprised)?

Anyway, I've now written this off to never buy anything from them again. Now looking for a good ice box with "real insulation". Anyone had good experiences with particular brands?

Cheers,

gday gossy

i hv to say this is a bit unusual. i have several of their ice boxes and never had an issue, and recently when one of the shock cords came off (probably my fault) they replaced it immediately with no costs/questions.

guess they are on holidays and someone forgot the answering machine

i also have a fibreglass baileys, which is just as good, but much more expensive (like about 3 times the price)

anyway, my 2 bob's worth.

the webpage gives the days they are at work but no-one on the phones. Have you checked your box for foam?

Hi Gossy,
my brother has 4 of these ice boxes and they are great. We pinch them off him all the time and are always reluctant to give them back.
His ice boxes obviously do have the foam in them.
As for after sales service, I can't comment here becuase we've never needed it.
Good luck with getting with your problem sorted.

Ive got several and found them to be excellent and fantastic value. And very quick to ship.
Ive also bought a factory second one to fit in my boat permanently and cut the lid up. 100% foam.

Try putting block ice or even better dry ice in it on a humid day. Any areas without foam should show condensation on the outside.

no need to check for foam. Put my torch around all the sides and completely hollow!!
Just bought myself a Waeco cooler a few minutes ago. Once bitten...........

Hi Gossy,

At least give them the chance to reply to your situation. You are potentially tarnishing the reputation of a company many people have had good dealings with.

What is the exact product you have purchased from them, and how long ago? Are you sure it's not one of the Techni ice tool boxes?

Many businesses are closed this time of year... is the situation so critical you can't wait a week? It's poor they aren't answering your calls when they have Xmas - New Years opening hours advertised on the website, but there may be other factors you're unaware of..... they may have been too busy in the shop to answer the phone when you called.... or another situation may have arisen.

Would be good to see what there response is when you get in touch with them. Perhaps there will be an reasonable explanation, or perhaps not and it may be something which we all need to know. One can only make an informed decision when we know both sides of the story.

Yep! Unlucky for Techniice that the electronic world will mean this forum will be up for all to read when people look for reviews.

they are cheap for a price but in this case there is false advertising to rip off customers who think they are getting a bargain against other brands.

As they are bought online the buyer can't check in physically until it has been purchased and delivered.

Have 3. All A1. Ice bought on the 24th still good for 2 more days. Got to be happy with that. Have the model with the flush lids which are far better to pack than most other brands.
Unfortunately you are looking for warrenty at the time many business's close for holidays so not surprised you're not getting a response.
Cheers Craig......

There has been mention that I'm not patient and I need to be patient over this part of the year. I agree and I have been. I've been calling them for weeks with no joy and now they are not answering the phone when they advertise they are open for business. I got a car bra for my Jeep Wrangler from America in half the time over this Xmas period so for Techniice to say that they had not received it yet (3 weeks to be delivered from Adelaide.........I don't think so).

Simply not good enough. Remembering also that this is a business who advertises their ISO qualification which basically means (with the one they have) they are a business with solid processes in the background and a quality product with checks along the way. This isn't the case with my ice box and obviously someone else in this chat group has also put a torch against their icebox and has found no insulation in their's also. Simply not good enough.

Cheers,

I have one the same colour as yours and it does the same with a torch. However Im pretty confident there is foam in it as a large flat area like that would be quite spongy if there was nothing holding the inner and outer apart.

Out of curiousity, if your absolutely convinced there is no foam inside, why not drill a hole and know for certain?
If it turns out there is you can seal it up with a soldering iron easily.

Hi All,

This post raised a response from Techniice that was sent via email to Modsquad.

Their response was -

"Firstly we would like to apologise to the customer who has had trouble getting in touch with our Customer Service Team . Obviously there are several members in this link who are curious to find out the reason for the light to pass through when a torch is held close to the walls of the icebox. Techniice use Higher grades of Polyethylene outer shell & Food Grade inner lining. These panels are insulated with the Polyurethane Foam and all these materials we use don’t have Highest levels of Opacity but the material ratios and the Techniice Design has proven to result in the best Performance & Durability . Obviously in this link Member snowman chose to become a guinea pig for this experiment & has drilled a hole through the Techniice ice box . Although The Techniice Lifetime Guarantee wouldn’t cover such External damages , As a gesture of Goodwill we like to organise a replacement icebox to be sent to Member- Snowman."

Therefore, Snowman, if you wish to accept their offer please contact ExplorOz management to make arrangements via email to modsquad@exploroz.com

Gday,
Im not taking sides here at all, but is it possible to see through some types of insulation?
Ive seen some foam used in packing that is fairly transparent......I dont have any laying around to test it with a tourch but it might be possible?
Mind you.........while writting this reply I had a thought.......there is an esky outside that was left here after Christmas day that I just went out to have a look at it........Yep techniice.......did the tourch trick and it wont shine through at all. Obviously insulated with something that isnt transparent.
Does strengthen your side of the argument.......
Look forward to hear the outcome.
Cheers

GREAT ICE BOXES and great service in my experience, you seem to have got a bad one and you should keep trying them in the new year as I have always found the service A1.
