I have finally started adding my own links in my blogs to save typing a whole lot of information. A great option!

However, the system automaticall makes a link to words/features of the EO site. This can be relevant but in my last blog I was disapointed with this feature. eg

When I typed.....
'As the crow flies it is 44km east of Carnarvon NP'
.. a link to 'Carnarvon WA' is given - wrong state!

'a wood BBQ and shelter shed'
.. a link to 'Shelter Shed Qld' was given. We were not at this location.

'there were many cattle trucks on the road'
... a link to 'one the road' was given - I dont know what this was about.

'the sandstone cliffs of the Great Divide'
... a link to 'Sandstone WA' was given. Wrong state and I was not talking about a town.

'The camping spot.....'
.. a link to 'camping' with all the EO related information was given.
.. a link to 'Spot Messenger device' was given

'This would not be the best spot to camp'
.. once again a link to 'Spot messenger'

'a basic supply shop...'
.. a link to the EO Shop

and there were more!

Links to places (if the writer has not put a link in) is very good
But...
all these unrelated links take away from what is written.
I know the reader does not have to click on the links but if he does, it certainly takes away concentration from the story.

David, is there any way to delete unwanted links that are automatically inserted?

I note that our forum posts do not bring up site links!! I am old and slow and it takes me a long time to prepare these Blogs - only to be disapointed with the outcome.

Totally agree. I never hit the link words now as disappointment, self interest from site managers and frustration tends to be the outcome.
cheers

Hi Rob,

An option to show links could be the go. I dont click on the links as I find them distracting.

Some blogs (not yours) have very dense blocks of text with few if any paragraphs to break up the text. When reading those I like to use the cursor to keep my place as I read - the constant popping up of the small linked boxes then becomes very intrusive.

Please keep the blogs coming!

Cheers,

Val.

Having just "discovered" the Navigator 1 blogs, they are excellent - thank you!

Rob,

I write my trip reports in word, embed photos, convert them to pdf , host them on my ISP site and create a link in my blog on EO. That way I do them once and can link on other forums.

Hi Richard,
Perhaps we can talk one day and you can tell me how to 'host them on my ISP site and create a link in my blog'
.
However, I would like the EO Blogs to be represented the way the writer intends. Can you help out here David?
