hi all, I'm very new too all of this 4x4 stuff, just got myself a 95 4runner, I was wondering if there are any good places in Melb that specialise in these for servicing, fitting aftermarket gear, like snorkel and dual batteries etc. Also if there were any clubs or websites dedicated to the 4runner in Australia or any wreckers around that stock 4runners of my model.

Also wondering on the topic of roof racks, how can I find out the roof's load rating?
Anyone out there with knowlege on the same Rv6 vechilce would be much appreciated if you could give me some indication of any problems, or what to expect from the 4runner.

Cheers.

Hi...I drove a 91 model 2.4 petrol 4 runner to cape york...it didn't miss a beat...the only thing was that most of the factory shocks were leaking by the time I got back -so it may be worth changing those...the only other trick with the front end on those i s if you hear loud squeaks and groans on full lock(initially I thought it was the torsion bars),put a little grease on the rounded bolt heads which limit how far the wheels turn on the front end..hope this helps

Hi I had the same model 4 runner went very well , I had a snorkel , springs , shocks , roof rack fitted either by myself or the local mechanic all the parts were avalible from ARB get there catalouge and price list and you will see a list for the 4 runner , the roof rack I fitted had to have the runners rivetted to the roof as there is no gutters I got it all from oppisite lock and fitted it myself in a morning they will tell you the recommended weights .I had rancho rs5000 shocks and had no problems ,also had polly air bags fitted in the rear for towing ,took it to Rundall river towing a camper trailor with no hassels in 5000km hope this helps99 GU Patrol 4.2 TD

Gday Longy,I drive a fairly modified 2.8 Diesel 4 Runner and love it.We done a 17000km trip on the large island last year and had a ball.I'd suggest go with after market shocks(we have OME) and stiffer springs in the rear (we also have Polyair bags and there tops)Nothing looks worse than a 4Runner dragging its rear end.We fitted a Rhino track system with sports bars which are rated at 90kgs on the 4 Runner but I couldnt bring myself to trust the rivets that hold the tracks onto the roof so I removed the roof lining and used S/S bolts and nylock nuts with large washers underneath to spread the load.If you fit one on yourself dont forget to use plenty of silastic so water dosnt leak in the mounting holes.I then built a rack to mount onto the bars.
Also check that a factory recall has been done as i believe that the RV6's had a head gasket problem.
Checkout Google and enter 4 Runner to find plenty of websites.
