He we are travelling north in a month or so. We have all our trip planned out as we are heading as far as the Sunshine Coast. We are stopping around the Gold Coast on the way home (mainly as we want to take the kids to Tropical Fruit World!!!). We aren't doing any of the theme parks. We have it narrowed down to Treasure Island and Gold Coast Holiday Park, but can't decide between them. Have heard some of the van sites at Treasure can be a bit small and have been advised with Gold Coast to use the large rig sites (our van is 23 foot), but these are right at the front of the park and worried these would be too noisy. Any advice for or against these parks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Lisa

Tropical Fruit World (and I think the name has changed) from memory is in the very northern tip of NSW so perhaps you might like to stay at Pottesville instead. You are right on the river and the ocean is 100 yards further. Nice place to walk around, quiet and if not busy getting onto a site is no bad. (do not go during holidays and back on to a site is a killer.) By that I mean Pottesville south CP. There are 2 both owned by the council.

From here you are back to the Pacific Hy and north for a few minutes. By

Nah...it's still "Tropical Fruit World".
I agree. Pottsville South park is in a delightful spot on the creek, with shops around the corner, great eating choices for a small town, the surf beach and markets if you're there on the "right" Sunday.
Or Hastings Point. Or "Kingy"...
Who needs that Gold Coast?!
There's about 360,000 lesss people south of the border!!

IF it is the Tropical Fruit World in northern NSW (east of Woyung) definitely check out the CPs at Pottsville, the Big 4 at Hastings Point, Kingscliff or Brunswick Heads. It's not far to go onto Byron Bay (30-50km?) or Murwillimbah. All are off the Highway and there are plenty to choose from.
Sorry can't help you with the Gold Coast if you need to stop there, but it is only 1 hour rom Byron Bay to Tweed Heads/Coolngatta now.

Thanks for those two replies so far. We stayed at Hastings Point last year which we absolutely loved!!!! We really wanted to try somewhere different, and as we will be leaving Maroochydore, good for the kids to only have a few hours down the road to go. Also, the ones we are looking at, it is only 45 minutes to Tropical Fruit World anyway, which we don't mind, as we have never stayed in the Gold Coast since having kids (eldest 11).

We have stayed a few times at Tallebudgera Creek CP.

I really love it here, but stopped going there as it was really busy and packed when we travel during the September School Holidays. The first time we went was during the July holdidays, and it was no where near as crowded then.

Last year we stayed at Kirra Beach CP.

No quite as many facilities at the park itself, but still a very nice and friendly park.
