its having repairs done, why are you whinging.

the creb track isnt a track to do on a whim..

you have to have the weather on your side,
any rain and youll be stuck for days.

and the vehicle has to be in tip top shape to do it.

Interesting,

Where did craigandej say they where wanting to do the CREB Track on a whim??

Where have they whinged??

Sometimes this forum is so precious, might explain why there are quite a few who rarely visit now days.

And others who are just plain gone.

Thanks Geoff,

At least I'll be up that way having fun and seeing our great country. Oh and by the way, its my 4th trip up the Cape, and lucky for me my vehicle is well prepared. I might just do the Tele track "on a whim" too.

Hopefully we wont meet too many sad sacks either.

Cheers

Hi Karen

The photo was taken at 4:10 PM on 2nd August 2010.

We had dropped into the info center at the Jardine Village to pick up some trinkets etc and ask about the track. The lass told me that it was closed. But we went for a drive anyway, only as far as that sign, just for a photo. Got to have something to show that you tried. Window stickers mean nothing.

I am hoping to get back one day. Hoping! But I don't like the book ahead rules that the QLD mob have come up with. We don't use a mobile and we do not have much access out of the city through our provider so we have to book weeks ahead and that is a real BIG pain. So maybe we will miss out. Kind of steering clear QLD now for just that reason.

Phil

Great info thanks for the post I will ensure the Road Conditions Coordinators are aware and can confirm and update the QLD Road Conditions Reports. I am sure this will be helpful to anyone planning to to undertake this track over the season.

Thanks guys, the article is a bit misleading too. Does it mean if you are under 3t you can still go??

I have passed this info to the people who look after the Road Reports and will get them to contact directly for clarification as you are right it doesn not say the road is closed in the title just Load Limit Restirctions but then states cannot be accessed. I actually think it means 3T and over but we will need to confirm directly unless someone has more information to post.

You'l find that the 3T load limit has been put in place as the bridge is unsafe for any weight over that , road is closed to all but locals and fines upto 20 penalty units can be imposed for ignoring the road closed signs,,,

Fowwing advice from Cains regional Council.

" The CREB track is closed due to essential repair works on the Niau Bridge.
Until these bridge repairs are completed, the CREB track cannot be accessed (effective 11 June 2013 until further notice).
Closure signs are posted at the southern and northern extremities of the CREB track. Fines apply for drivers ignoring the closure signs."
