I have the same model which the better half runs around in & at the last calc we were getting

City 17/100k
Towing (19ft van) 25/100k

We have since changed up to the larger 265/75/16 tyres. Not that it would make a huge difference to the economy.

Before the last trip away we had a tune up which we have also noticed has improved economy yet again.

Cant give a highway reading as we are always towing when on the road.

I have a manual 2003 GU 3.0TD with 285/75 tyres. Speedo is now correct, was out by 6% with original tyres (Garmin V GPS correction).

Mainly freeway driving to work
12.2 litres/100 kms

Towing 1.6T offroad van (~100km/hr)
15.3 litres/100 kms

Have just fitted Dtronic this week. Very noticeable power increase, will have to wait and see effect on fuel economy.

Cheers

Mark

I have a 3 lt TD 2001 auto.
My economy on a resent trip was 9.5km per 1 lt only if you stay around 100-110km on highway. I was towing a camper trailer from Esperance to my place 750km and used just over 3/4 tank.

the 4.5 is cheaper to run,

the 3.0 gets 1 motor, 1 gearbox, 1 pulley assembly, and a clutch to 70,000klms

Dont touch 98-01 3.0 GU's they have issues with all of the above. It even made the paper few weeks ago!!

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I've got a 3lt Auto, 2000 model, and yes I've heard all the reports but, touch wood, no problems. Got to agree with Brad, he was very persuasive, about fuel consumption. 10.7lt/100k around town. When touring we normally gross, with trailer, about 3.5t. Trip to Melb from Bris and back via high Country gave 12.7lt/100k. Trip to Fraser with lots of inland very soft sand driving gave 17.5. I'm rapt. My old EA Falcon usually managed about 18-20 around town. You cannot beat diesel!!!

See ya in the bush. Treadlightly!
