I'm wondering whether anyone has any recommendations for somewhere within 3-4 hrs of Brisbane for us to "veg out" for a couple of weeks in September. We're looking for a dog-friendly park that is going to be quiet and friendly (read - not crowded with families on school holidays). We don't need fancy facilities - just power, hot showers and preferably TV reception.

Yooralani

Try the Clifton Showgrounds. $8.00 a night for peace and quiet and it is dog friendly. You can also have a camp fire.

Being in the south east, keep in mind the fact that NSW has the same school holidays in September (schools break up on Sept 20). That means there'll be a greater influx of people, condensed into a 2 week period instead of spread over 3 weeks as we usually do.

Why not try the Bribie Island Recreation Area, it is located at 65Killmetres of Brisbane and link to the mainland by a road bridge.
You can check whether this site allows for camperfire, if so, you can enjoy a exterior camperfire there.
