We'll be leaving on the weekend and heading north. We intend travelling the Barkly Stock Route from near Elliot and heading for Borroloola.

I can't seem to find very much info on this stretch and I am wondering if anyone has done it lately? Anything to see on way and any comments regarding bush camping on our own would be much appreciated.

We did not go along the Stock Route, taking the Carpentaria and Tablelands Highways in 2009. Caravanning friends went that way and at the time found it in good conditions. Basically a wide flat road through the Mitchell grass plains of the Barkly. They camped along it but did not say where. I hope they don't mind me showing you their photo.
