"Victoria Police and the Mansfield Shire have informed us that once again they will have officers monitoring traffic using the road during this closure period, and anyone caught on the road without a
FWDV Approved Permit will be fined up to $250.00 per vehicle"

have a look at the fwdv website for more details.

Cheers

What Gujimbo said, plus you need to meet the following conditions.

-Member of a fwdvictoria affiliated club
-Have a sat phone or HF
-Have at least 2 vehicles
-Give at least 2 weeks notice to get the approval and permit.

Ken at Woods Point police has little else to do and spends a lot of time on that road.

I have seen him checking vehicles often. I hear they are even more enthusiastic at the Mansfield end. Expect to spend an extra $250 if you don't get a permit.

Also Putrol, to top the fun off, take a look at snow cams of Bulla and Baw Baw, not much snow away from the man made stuff. At about 1550m Mt Skene will be even worse off.

Looks like there might be something better by Sunday night though.

I am going snow camping when the conditions are better ( worse!), and going over the other side to Arbuckle Junction / The Gorge carpark, even though it is about 100m lower.

Putrol,

there would be none to speak of at the moment, but it looks like it's shaping up for about 2cm above 1200m on Saturday and 1cm above 1400m on Sunday and probably none on Monday.

If that's right there will be a light dusting a few kms either side of Mt Skene.
