I am getting enquiries about the closure of Fenton WW2 Airstrip and Base Camp area , it is correct the Airstrip and Base Camp gates are chained and padlocked, the reason is on July 1st Territory Day some idiots started a bush fire and burnt a large area of good stock feed resulting in the closure of these sites to the public.
The alternatives could be McDonald Airstrip near Pine Creek, not fenced and can be interesting if you look hard, also Gorrie Airstrip 10 kilometres north of Larrimah is accessible and has a lot of History.
I am pleased I got to see Fenton, the Base Camp area, Crash sites of B-24's RAAF A77-88 and USAAF Nothing Sacred when I was at Mt Bundy, also landed on Fenton and McDonald in a Jabiru 120.

Hi Doug. Thanks for all your info in the past. As usual, there is always some idiot to ruin it for the rest of the population.
