Peter, your transmission needs to be identified first. It should be a Jatco RE4R01A model. The transmission ID will be on the data plate on the firewall, or on a data tag affixed to the transmission itself.
I can't find a part number anywhere for the transmission filter kit - but I'd suggest the following eBay seller has your kit right right here (link below) - or he'll be able to get it.
This seller lists this kit as only fitting '97-'00 models - but it's likely that it's listed as from '97 only, because the Terrano wasn't sold here before '97 - but it was more than likely sold in Japan from a much earlier date.
After year 2000, the transmission design was altered and it was fitted with electronic controls.

Cheers, Ron.

Thanks for all the replies I am certain the filter is an RTK49 and the trans is E 4R01A ,,the trans fluid is a good ruby colour and seems to change with no probs, so don't think I need a trans. specialist to service it and charge me a cuppla hundred $$ to do it,,,,, again thanks for the help
