Hi
Has anyone fitted a roof rack or carry bars to an Isuzu 2013 Space cab with rear suicide doors.
I know of various kits for the dual cab models where you can remove the rubber strips on the roof and attach components to the rails, unfortunately the strips are permanently attached to the roof unlike the dual cab models. Most recognised companies show as unavailable .
Thanks in advance.
Ian

Hi Ian,

Worst case you could think like Holden did with the jackaroo, 3 sets of captive nuts in the roof turret under the trim strip, bugger that! Let's drill holes in the roof skin and rivet on track rails...

The original supplier of those kits was Rola, you can buy the lengths of track and cross bar mounts, tie down mounts etc as parts or you could get a kit with long enough tracks and cross bars and cut them down to suit.

Cheers Brad.

The suitable versions are the TMEX and TMX as shown in the attached document.

G'day Ian
Although it may look like the strip is permanent on the dual cab models it possibly isn't.
Definitely isn't on the 2011 model and the strip had to be prised up and cut near the front and rear and the long centre section removed to allow the DRILLING of the roof in 7 places each side.

The 2013 I believe has captive nuts in the channel under the strip and when strip is gone the holes have to be cleaned out and used to fasten the rails on with suitable fasteners.
I can't see why a Space cab will be any different, just a bit shorter and it will also have the holes ready for use. If it doesn't, it isn't a big deal having to drill the roof where advised to drill of course. Using sikaflex to seal and glue the rail in the roof groove does give additional support to the whole thing when fitted.
Yours has bolts, mine, just 7 big pop rivets.

If you have to drill the roof use a shortened drill or a sleeve on the drill so it just goes through but not touches the roof lining which will be around 20mm below.
If there are no short sections available for the Space Cab a full length cut down is an option.

Dealer supplied Rhino brand racks for mine at delivery. Referred to as Tradesman's Bars, they have a much higher carrying capacity than the Sport's Bars that mount in the channels in the roof. No troubles in use after I adjusted positioning to minimise wind noise.
