Hi Guys
Come the end of the Christmas hols we will be hitting the road, for, who knows how long. We will ;leave our
Albany WA
home and head East.......
So I have thought it might be a good idea to have a blog to share our trip.
My darling wife has a blog, which she used to share our 2013 trip, I reckon it was GREAT.
So she has inspired me to share my experience on our next trip.
So (using ExploreOz) I would like a little guidance on setting things up. I would like to share, our trip, the caravan, a recipe or two, the TUG (Triton).
Thanks guys, help me to set it up

Hi Brian,
The article linked to your post should get you started with the info you need. Its really very easy!. Suggest look through a few existing
blogs to get an idea of how you would like your blog to look to give you some ideas to work with.
I keep a diary in a notebook each day, so when it comes time for blog writing (which in our case comes after we get
home from a trip) I have a good starting point, helped by the OziExplorer track file t remind me of exactly where we went, and the photos that we take to jog the memory.
I always write my
blogs using Word, then when I'm happy with what I have written I simply copy and paste into the blog space. That way I can more easily
check spelling, add in extra bits, and generally get the words to say what I intend. Also, I find it hard to read big blocks of text so I like to break up the blocks of words with new lines and paragraphs.
Photos make a blog look great, and they are easily inserted using the "inset image" function. The trick is to first select the images that you will use, maybe edit them a bit as necessary, and re-size them to make uploading quicker.
Hope that helps a bit. I think writing a blog adds a whole new dimension to a trip.
Cheers,
Val.

Hi Brian
Not only the sharing, which is the main reason why I do
mine, but it cements the memories in your mind and for future reference. If I want to answer a question on a
forum and want make sure I have it all right in my mind, I
check my travelogues. My trips can be enjoyed again time after time.
Are you looking at using a Blog programme for a personal Blog, or just put them in the Blog section here as so many of us do? Either way, writing text and adding photos can be time consuming, but rewarding.

Hi Brian
One you have done your first Blog they get easier after that.
Blogs are a great way of sharing your experiences and adding photos makes it so much more interesting.
My word of advise when adding photos to a blog, do not make them small. Many people go to great length of writing a fantastic Blog, adding many great images, but with you open the images to look in more details, they are that small that it is a complete waste of time to have added them in the first place.
Here is a Blog that I have written and showing the effects that down sizing an image can have, showing a often used very small file size to a more enjoyable size to view the images. It is you call, but the bigger size does not cost you any difference in cost to add it, so make your Blog stand Out with good size imegaes.
Make Your Photos Stand Out
Happy writing and looking forward to reading your
Blogs.
Cheers
Stephen

Brian,
I've only done a couple of
blogs, but need to do more to finish a "series".
Also do the story in Word, as you can just take your time then, do any research necessary, and there's not the worry of the site "timing out" and you've lost everything.
The other thing I do with photos, is to do a Save As of any photos that I want to use(and that includes any that I use in Replies or Follow-ups) and put a "code" in the photo name/number, that tells me that it may be cropped, resized or altered in any way. You don't want to lose any of your full sized photos.
The spacing of photos throughout the blog, according to the subject matter, appears to work
well. Other bloggers often just put all relevant photos at the end of the text, and one can view them easily in one go.
One more thing Brian. PARAGRAPHS......gotta have paragraphs, otherwise it's just too hard to follow, especially if viewing on a monitor.
Happy blogging,
Bob.

Final recommendation, make sure you have an up to date web browser. It makes a lot of difference. I recently moved over to Google Chrome as my computer would not support later editions of Microsoft IE.
I wish I'd done it ages ago as auto spell
check and photo uploads are so much easier now.
I think Stephen L covered it but make sure you resize your photos. If they stay at Two meg or more per image, you will never load them up.
Cheers Mick

Hi Mick
Many thanks, love the photo:-))
Just looking what I can do with Windows 7 ( on my netbook) before I download any other photo software. I do use Google as
my HOME page and brower, so will look into CHROME.....
