Advice for vehicle toolkit needed

If you have a 'big kit' I wouldn't spend more on another one, just more weight and something you don't need.

After 28 years my wife and I struggle to find each other anything so I know where you're coming from!

Duck onto http://www.kogan.com/au/ for some ideas, they've got plenty of bits and pieces, sorry I can't help with more but just can't see the point of more tools if he's got plenty, good luck with it!

Why not just get the roll and allow the birthday boy/girl to fill it with items from the big kit.
Not much point carrying two sets.

In many tool sets there are the normal sizes but your vehicle may have a few sizes of nut or bolt head which isn't matched by socket size or ring/open ended spanners.
Drain and or filer plugs also may not be catered for in the big set so i would take some time to ensure anything likely to be needed loosening has a tool to do it. Within reason of course.

15mm springs to mind.

That way the additional roll will be for the specials and not the norm. It isn't much use having a big set which doesn't have THAT size in it.

Why not buy him a "Leatherman" tool or similar brand that he can keep handy on his belt or in the glove box. Have one on my belt everyday at work, and there is not a day goes by that I don't use it They don't weigh much, haven't bought one for years but do remember them being expensive back then but well worth the money.
