I Could not find many old photo's of the Rossi Factory or Boots but the history in the text is interesting. It is also a little difficult to avoid promoting Rossi Boots but I think on the record over the years they deserve a mention on our SHP.

Rossi Boots is an Australian work boot company. Rossi employs 90 staff in the Adelaide suburb of Hilton, making it Australia's second largest work boots company. All Rossi boots are made in Australia in their Hilton factory.

The company was started in 1910 when Arthur Edward Rossiter began making boots in a shed in Adelaide. The World Wars were good times for business, but it was a struggle during the Great Depression. Today the company uses computerized machines for cutting, sewing and attaching soles. Replacing workers with technology is the company's way of avoiding the transfer of its jobs to other countries. Rossi makes 250,000 pairs of shoes per year
There must be something special about the Rossiter family, because along with the heritage and quality of workmanship passed down through family generations, many of the descendants of the original Rossiter employees are still part of the bigger family today.

If there’s a bigger value than family at Rossi Boots, No short cuts. It’s as simple as that. Only time-honoured, boot making craftsmanship combined with the finest materials will ensure each boot is built to work hard and play hard. And beyond expectations.
In fact, Rossi Boots have a history for going beyond expectations in specialised design footwear. Rossi Boots were the nation’s suppliers to the military, while Rossi cricket and football boots were famous in their heyday for fit and durability.
This invaluable heritage has kept Rossi Boots perfectly “in step” with the ever-changing lifestyles of customers. Today, just about anything you choose to do, can be done in a Rossi boot. And now, in a Rossi shoe as well. What’s more, Rossi’s are available in every state of Australia.
Designing a boot for Australia’s hugely diverse climate and landscape demands heightened comfort with outstanding durability. This could also be why Rossi Boots are fast becoming a brand of choice, internationally.
Though there’s a lot more behind ‘unbootable’ Rossi footwear than true-blue craftsmanship. The modern and well-equipped factory in Adelaide adds state of the art technology, giving the customers that finishing touch of superior quality, synonymous with the Rossi Boots brand.
Keeping this family business Australian is now a core philosophy. Rossi Boots is the only major shoe manufacturer in Australia that’s kept every aspect of production on Aussie soil.

The fact that Rossi Boots began life in a tin shed in an Adelaide backyard in 1910 has a fair bit to do with it. Arthur Rossiter’s commitment and belief in the ability to produce quality boots locally has been a driving force behind the company across the decades since.
It’s a real family thing. And it’s worked. Trusting our heritage, workmanship and skills passed down through generations has been instrumental to Rossi Boots’ survival and success. And when we say family, we include all the descendants of the original Rossiter employees.
And it’s the commitment to family that has encouraged the Rossi Boots company to strategically guarantee their future as an Australian manufacturer. Rossi Boots walk the walk of ‘Made in Australia’.

Thanks Doug,

I have no problem with giving this great Aussie company a plug.
They are, living history and unfortunately we have lost so many of our history to either bankruptcy or overseas.
I proudly wore Rossi GP boots when I was in the army, knowing they could be relied on to protect a vital part of a solder's body, his feet.
The quality products this Aussie family company produce is second to none in the world.
I also am in no way connected with this company except for being a proud Aussie.

Thanks again Doug.

I think you need to visit an RM store Tony, you will be surprised at the amount of clothes and boots from off shore. I think it's only the top priced boots made here.

Hi Yarda,
I realise that a lot of RM's clothing comes from OS..... but the quote from Rossi's was
'the only major shoe manufacturer in Australia that’s kept every aspect of production on Aussie soil.'

Again...... I ask what part of RM's boots are made OS?

I'm sure I've seen shoes made in China in their shops, and I just found reference on their FB page to at least one model of boot they make in China.

How about Oliver boots? They are still made in Ballarat aren't they? My Oliver steelcaps certainly are.
