I have a new VFCommodore SV6 that will be towing a small camper trailer & would appreciate if anyone knows if the Samsung Galaxy S4 works with the "MY LINK" on this vehicle.

Well the only option I see Shavers having if it doesn't work is to sell his new VF Commodore, maybe Hyundai is compatible and might be worth considering!

How much would you want for the VF?

Shaver. If you expect meaningful replies you had better ask questions that give the sensible and correct facts.
Your first post said "I have a new VFCommodore SV6", your second post said "I haven't bought it". One moment you have a Commodore the next you do not have a Commodore.
There are many very experienced people on this site spending their time trying to help others like yourself and it frustrates many that some people cannot phrase an intelligent question.

And by the way the answer is still the same. It is just that you will have to go to the dealer to try it instead of your garage.

All right Shaver sorry for upsetting you, Have you ever thought about asking the person at the shop your going to get your phone from and maybe trying it before you buy, I'm sure they would have a Samsung S4 floating around somewhere!

Hell with a rare car like a Commodore you might find no one knows

You might have better luck if you goggled your question or asked on the Whirlpool forum, or a Holden dealer..... that's if your got time yourself to do it.

And I don't see what towing a camper trailer has to do with seeing if the phone your intending to buy is going to work with your car, maybe you should of said what colour it is and if it's a base model or a Calais.

And buy they way childish remarks usually come about when some one asks a childish question before trying to do the ground work first them selves.

Chris

He has the car ..but not the phone, hence the question.

Seemed a reasonable request myself. Pity about the responses as it does turn some people off using the forum for its intended purpose.

Cheers
Greg

Compatibility info is on the Holden website.

You have to wonder, though, about all this "stay connected" crap in cars these days. Shouldn't the driver's attention be on the driving, not texting, looking up phone numbers and making calls - even if it is voice controlled and legal?

There was a link to a video posted here recently. A car drove up the backside of a cyclist in broad daylight, perfect visibility, cyclist straight ahead of the vehicle, no sight-line problems. How could you do that if your attention was on the primary task - driving the car?

I reckon the wool has been pulled over the regulators' eyes with this hands-free crap. The primary risk is not that one hand is off the wheel holding a phone. It is the driver's attention not focussed on the primary task. Non verbal communication makes up 80% of the message in a conversation between two people. In the absence of that (ie, phone conversation) the brain devotes an extraordinary amount of processing power to making up the difference, leaving precious little left to manage the driving task. End of rant.

Cheers

For years my manager of home affairs has been telling me that when I drive the vehicle, I become antisocial, not talking or otherwise socialising with the passengers. I just don't do it.

It's true, when I'm driving, my task is to get her and any other passengers (and me of course) to our destination in a safe and timely manner.
Bugga talking for the sake of being sociable.

The job of the front seat passenger is to do everything possible to ensure that the driver is wide awake and concentrating on the job. A great many people are killed on our roads simply through inattention. Disco driver has the right idea, its a pity that more people were not the same.

May I suggest that Members stick to the question & not revert to their idea's of what is right & wrong by their standards. I take it that no one that has posted uses a CB in their travels & to state that a voice controlled apparatus is inferior & less safe is beyond belief. I have held a HC licence for 50 years, with one accident caused by some fool in a 4wd that thought cutting on the inside of a fully laden Low Loader turning a corner was a sensible act. He was lucky to be alive & wasn't using a mobile. There is obviously a few here that imply that they are the best drivers in the world judging by the comments, hold a A Class & drive a keyboard. I also happen to be a private pilot & shudder to think that I should look straight ahead, don't talk on the radio & not look at my instruments when landing & flying. Obviously some people can't multi task !

Some use their own lack of ability to judge in theory others peoples abilities...... And them come to a uneducated assumption that no one surely could be better than themselves.

And then you have the others who think everyone is as skilled as they think they are.

Everyone is a professional expert until it all goes pear shaped.
