Hi all,
Does anyone have any info on the fitting of an auto gearbox (from say a 200) to the V8 in the 76 series?
Thanks
Ian

Wholesale Automatics in Victoria do a drive in, drive out conversion and will build the box to suit whatever you are going to use it for (ie): Towing or just day to day driving.

If you can hold off, they are meant to be offering an auto as a factory option from September

Chisel, $5K plus is the rumour.

Cheers

Yes you'd want to have a good reason to want an auto. Mind you there were 2- 3 there when I was at the shop a month or so ago. Some from overseas.

It's not the 200's auto, they are still working on it's electronics. I think it's a 4 or 5 speed GM box.

It seems the manual gearbox is what limits the torque in the 70 so that could be a good reason if you are flush with cash.

Interesting Alby, if you google Automatic 70 series Landcruiser to goes to Toyota's 70 page. I couldn't find anything on the actual page, but Toyota's meta data their webpage is called

"Review the complete range of Toyota LandCruiser 70 series cars with Cab Chassis, Troop Carrier, Wagon, Manual and Automatic options. Book a test drive online. " It was modified about 2 months ago.

Also for the OP here is another option for about $12K, 6 speed GM

Coming from a 100 series the Wholesale Automatics option is more attractive but $25k is about $10k too much.

Boobook I am also told with the September update release it will be Ancap 5 compliant so assume that means it will have stability control and a few other gadgets which may or may not appeal to traditional old school 70 series buyers
One thing they could splash out with is more than one cup holder ha ha ha
I feel like Toyota is mocking me selling a five seater vehicle with ONE cup holder, makes me laugh, the 200 has heaps of them, surely they could of pinched a couple off them and nobody would notice LOL

An air conditioner option for less than $2500 on a 30YO design, $55,000 vehicle would be a nice gesture too. You can just about buy a whole Hyundai for the price of the aircon LOL.
