I have both the Hema and Mud Map apps on my IPad and the navigator (my wife) prefers Mud Maps over Hema but I am getting more and more disgruntled with Mud maps especially the feature of saving tracks and bringing them back to look at ( they just disappear) so I think Hema is the better option. Both work well on the IPad and recently I just installed all the Vic Topo maps from Mud Maps. If your only going to buy one get Hema.

Cheers Rod

Agree Old 55 - I have the same setup and for the life of me cannot find how to reload saved treks. However, I must admit the actual tracking Mud Maps is superb.

Thanks for that info Rod, we mainly want to use it as a back up to our map reading, we have done lots of outback and desert tracks and have just had either Hema or Westprint maps, but thought one of these two could be helpful.
one other question, can you download waypoints onto them ie longs and lats for a particular location.

Regards alan

Hi rod. Downloaded the hema maps onto the I pad today. Have loaded some waypoints. How do you tell it to go to them or do you have to be on the move?
Cheers alan

Have you considered Memory Maps ..... full set of Hema maps available and also others. Easy to store and reload tracks and routes, and share them as well.

I have to say I don't reckon either hold a candle to OziExplorer on a laptop, for reliability and simplicity to operate. I constantly lose not just tracks and waypoints but whole bloody maps from both Mud Maps and Memory Maps on my iPad. About the only thing I like about them is that they "work" on my iPad in a far more elegant setting that doesn't require a big heavy laptop open and a morass of wires. I even wasted $100-odd on ExplorOz's 200k map set only to discover its a waste of money as well and doesn't seem to download or if it does, isn't there next time you want to use it. Never had any of these problems with OziExplorer.

Paul,
Did you purchase EOTopo 200K for the Ipad? We can make arrangements for you it should not be a waste of money. Touch base with Adele and she will sort it all out for you - adele at exploroz.com. You can certainly use the product on OziExplorer on any device and like you reckon it is much better than any IOS solution I have seen. I have switched to Android tablets and phones with Ozi and it is great.

Thanks David. It's taken me some time to figure out how I acquired it, hence the delay. Anyway, it turns out I bought it via Memory Maps on my $800 Samsung Galaxy S4 android phone, which I've had to send back to Samsung as it just kept crashing 5-10 times a day within 4 or 5 months after purchase, but that's a whole other story!

I bought the $99.99 version for download on 4 devices. To my knowledge it is only on my iPad, Sumsung Android phone and one PC but memory maps can't seem to find it on my iPad and I could never find it on my android (despite carefully writing down the destination). This morning, memory maps are telling me I have no rights to download it on my iPad so I don't know what I paid for or where it's gone, but I don't appear to have it and of course Apple with their far too clever IOS with no file manager is no help whatsoever. This is the big problem with Apple, if it doesn't just magically work, you've got no hope!

Sometimes I think I've just got too much money, but the internet is doing a wonderful job at correcting this.

Paul,

Would be worth sending a support request to MM for the missing license and also tell them about the dead device so they can recover the installation for you.

I have the original Mud Maps and the 25k maps were useless. They didn't show even well known fire trails, they were like street maps with contour lines. Have they improved in later versions?
Ozi is a good product but doesn't work on ipads/iphones. Memory Maps is good and the licencing is strict but it works on PC, ipads/iphones and android.l
