Might help if you say what suspension you have!

Hi Tony, You do not state what kind of suspension you have on your van.
If it is an axle, the may be bent.
To check this you need a straight edge about a metre long & place it on all sides of the axle.
If get a side where you can see light through the axle will be bent.
If this is the case the best answer is to get a new axle made but make sure it is heavier then the original axle.
If it is a independent suspension you will have to take it to a suspension expert to be checked

It sounds as if it has a solid axle and that has taken a hit near the middle of the axle and now the wheels instead of being parallel to each other, are now toeing INWARDS which will quickly evaporate the rubber off the outer edges as they scrub sideways down the road.

Tyres like to roll and not be used as erasers.

If worn as you say it should be possible to see the toe in by looking discerningly at each wheel face and it's relationship to parallel with the sides of the camper.

Checks like mentioned above are a good way to find the where on the axle it is bent
The bend will be either backwards or upwards or a combination of both directions.

put a string line down parallel to the sides of the camper and see how much difference between front and rear of tyre

just get the tyres removed and reversed on the rims

You got a bent axle, chum...no doubt about it.

You have a axle out of a pasenger car designed for " improved surfaces" and you have been up the cape.
