Hello
A few months ago J,M&Ks advised on the
forum of an Iridium Sat Phone update related to a change in the system "epoch" (something to do with date and time system).
Old Thread Here
Basically involved putting a code into your Iridium sat phone (certain models only) so that it would show the correct time/date after the system upgrade (on ~ 30th June 2014 or thereabouts)....
Well I did the update last month - no problem - but turned the phone (Iridium 9555) on today to do a
check before an upcoming trip and it was showing the incorrect time/date. So figure I should just re-enter the previous supplied code (*#99#2014051114235500#)...No change!!
A search of the Internet revealed that the "epoch" system update has been rolled back and is no longer relevant. No problem if you hadn't bothered with the update in June..however if you have applied the update your phone will now show the wrong date time and a new code is required to be entered to reverse the previous code.
The new code is ...
Dial *#99#2007030803502100#, press the green key and power cycle
I have done this and and now my phone shows correct time and date...(and still works)
Below is the post I found the information in.
Cheers
Greg
Hello -
In a sudden and unexpected twist, Iridium has rolled back the re-epoch because of some substantial problems that some of its users were having once it was implemented on June 17th.
If you haven't done anything to your phone to re-epoch it - don't! It should be fine.
But if you already went through the instructions to make sure it synced with the re-epoch (as we did, and as did most Iridium users, seems like) you will need to roll back the syncing you performed.
Those 9555/Iridium Extreme handsets that did enter the provided key sequence for the June 17th re-epoch will be impacted on June 30th. They will need to enter the following key sequence:
• Dial *#99#2007030803502100#, press the green key and power cycle
Additionally, those 9505A handsets that manually changed the time/date setting will also need to follow the same instructions to update the date/time again on June 30th.
We're very sorry about all this confusion and hope that Iridium gets this sorted out for the next re-epoch (scheduled for January, 2015).
