Anyone travelled the Holland Track from Coolgardie to Wave Rock in WA recently? I would appreciate a 'heads-up' on it's condition and any other info. Cheers

One of our Perth readers did the Holland Track over Easter and is preparing a full trek note for us to add to ExplorOz. I was hoping we might have it by now, but I haven't got any material yet. Stay tuned....

Hi Ron I travelled the Holland track over Easter and concider it a great trip Some parts are fairly scrubby so be prepared for a few scratches. It is pretty much a two wheel drive treck apart for the need for ground clearance, unless, there is heavy rain then you will certainly be stuck! I would recomend the 'Holland Track Map Book' byWestate Publishers I think it is available from Oppisite Lock stores in W.A. Regards Ken.

Ron, The Toyota Landcruiser Club of WA have adopted and I suppose are the guardians (so to speak) of the Holland Track. As a course of courtesy it is suggested that you contact them.

Rod, I hope you aren't an club official or member of this club as it certainly won't do the club any favours by offending people with name-calling. ...interesting to see this statement a few days after a post pondering the merits of 4WD Clubs!

Hi there, I didn't actually know that using upper case was shouting, I just can't type very well and using upper case means I don't have to mess about so much, but as you can see I won't be doing that again.
I also didn't mean to start a fight, as all I was saying is that anyone can use the track and contacting the Toyota club would be good to get info, but thats as far as it goes. I didn't mean to offend. Its a strange world!!!!

I only asked a question about a track in good faith. I didn't want to start a brawl. I'll find out the info by other means......'out!'

Ron, I hope this episode does not put you off using ExploreOz, as its a great site where people can help each other out.

I wasn't trying to start a fight, but my typing skills may have misinterpreted the point and I also got my Ron's and Rod's mixed up at the beginning.

Anyway, good luck on the Holland Track as its a good trip

Gary

G'day Ron, don't lose sight of exploring this big brown land of OURS (oops I'm shouting), by seeking info on the net. If you do get in contact with the LC 4wd C of WA, don't mention you have a PATROL (oops I'm shouting again). Everyone enjoy exploring Oz, and remember to have a laugh around the campfire. Tally Ho!

look, i dont really want to get involved in this pathetic bleep slinging match but for what its worth, i dont think anyone was really accusing anyone else of anything. i may be wrong, but i think the point that was trying to be made was basically that in adopting the track the Toyota Club has taken it upon themselves to look after and manage it so it can be enjoyed by everyone for many years to come. no one is saying that the Club are the "police" of the track but they simple care for it so other can enjoy it. Now, on the other hand i can see how some people (including me i have to admit) sometimes get a little annoyed when others, particularly from 4wd clubs, attempt to force their views/opinions onto other people. That said Ron, i suppose it will be in your interest to speak to the TLCC not to ask permission, but to get as much info on the track as possible.

i also want to add that it is disgraceful that a user of this forum has been turned away and is going elsewhere for his information simply because a couple of people want to argue, come on guys it really is not so important that its worth bleep off other users. Ron, not everyone on this forum is out to make trouble, and i for one would like you to stay and not to be turned off by these select few.

Hi

After all that , I forget who asked the original question...
that said I have been on the track a few years ago and enjoyed.
The HOLLAND track book gives a phone No. ( I think it was the Mining Co.)
You can ring for an update on conditions
regards
Brian

Ron, hope you are still using the forum. Michelle mentioned that a trek note is being prepared for the HT and it is I that is supposed to be doing it. Sorry for the delay but it rained and as a farmer who grows crops I needed to sow them. I have not been into the ExplorOz site for weeks so I am trying to catch up while waiting for a phonecall.

If you are still there, email me at geeangee@katel.net.au and I can give you a quick rundown of the HT.

It is an excellent drive and not challenging 4WD-wise (unless wet). It actually starts in Broomehill in the Great Southern not at Hyden.
