Hi
John,
You'll have to excuse my sarcasm. I am totally for
solar power it's brilliant. I'm totally against generators unless you are really out amongst it and alone with no one else to bother but I appreciate that some people have requirement for them and accept that as long as it is within the respectable times. It's a topic that has been covered here a lot so won't go any further into it than that. As far as Conto's goes I have camped there a few times during winter as it's great when it's not peak season otherwise I steer clear as there are much better spots in the area that are less crowded. Some are listed and easy to find and others not so much.
You're right, the sites at Conto's are small but I have no issues with the shade. It can be blisteringly hot down there in summer and the shade is welcome among the peppy trees. It's not really the sort of place I would stay long enough to need solar anyway although I have seen other campers there with it set up.
As far as Parks management goes my experience with them in W.A has been fantastic and the Rangers always very helpful. On a recent trip down there I forgot to fill up my onboard
water tank and the
ranger escorted me to his own
home so I could fill from his personal rainwater supply.
The only thing that really annoys me sometimes is how fire restrictions are handled at some spots. There are some sites in W.A where you are allowed fires only in certain designated sites within that particular
campsite and others you are not and the fire rings have been removed. I'm sure there is a reason for it but when it's been raining for a week and the whole forest is drenched and you're not allowed a fire outside of the general fire ban months it's really frustrating.
Cheers
Craig
