Glad we stayed ahead of it by leaving Bowen on Thurs at 1300, return drive to Brissy.

Went through a couple of memorable cyclones as a youngster up further north.

All the best with getting back to normality, should only be a few weeks and things will look / feel almost like usual.

Talking about mongrels, I heard on the news the coppers caught those mongrels who pinched the genny's in Rocky.
Shame they couldn't string them up.
We stayed a week at Beachside Caravan Park Yeppoon back in November; our thoughts have been with them. Is the park still there?

Plain clothes police officer caught the mongrel after he advertised generators for sale in local paper !

I'm from Yeppoon meself and yeah a lot of trees throughout town gone and what remained are a lot thinner. Didn't sustain any damage whatsoever myself but there are quite a few in town who did, as you would expect. We were fortunate and had power back on by Sunday night so hardly an impost considering so from our perspective the electricity crews (from all over) have done a champion effort in getting back online. In saying that all the ES and local council crews have done a great job. Cannot forget to mention the sappers from T'ville who are working their guts out also.
