First of all this isnt for all of you.
Just a short story of a non 4wd owner and the lack of brains some of you drivers have.
Coming home from work tonight.A BIG new four wheel drive pulls out of a side street right in front of me.I hit the brakes but not quick enough.CRASH BANG.I now have this four wheel drives side as a new bonnet emblem. After getting out asking whats going on.This four wheel drive owner gets out and starts yelling at me.WHAT YOU COULDNT SEE ME.IM HARD TO MISS IN THIS FOUR WHEEL DRIVE.
Geez some brains some of you people have.

Seems to me that the lack of brains goes a little further than i first thought. My gripe is more about the drivers response to me.If it was a truck that pulled out in front of me i would find some where else to whinge. But this being a 4wd site i thought i might whinge here.

...and if it was a bright yellow Lamborghini, where would you be complaing to then? They sort of stand out too don't they???

Seems to me that BOTH parties were not driving with due care and attention...........

This has nothing to do with 4wd's... You have found an idiot.... They could have been in anything...

Similar thing happened to me by a dropkick'ette" in a 4wd.... I was doing about 40kmh on my motorbike because i had this 100series pegged at a distance and somehow knew she was going to turn in front of me at a no right turn intersection,,, so then she did it,,, straight across in front of me and i still almost hit her even though i had slowed for the occasion....

I am not one to start road rage incident,, but i had to follow her into the shopping centre just to see if she was a mental patient escaped or an escaped crash test dummy on holidays....because no-one could have done this without meaning to try and kill motorbike riders.....

I approached and asked if she had seen me out on the road and she said the only way to slow us motorbike d%&kheads down is to make us to scared to come on the roads and if i wasnt going so fast she would have not swerved at me....

So you can see how roadrage can occur....I walked away....

Some car drivers are just plain "off the planet". We were coming home from the SAAFWDC AGM in Mildura a week ago on a Sunday night. It was about 10pm and I was travelling at the speed limit, just on the outskirts of home town. Had High beam with Lightforce 240s melting the bitumen for about a kilometre ahead, when some bone-head in falcon wagon filled with kids, came idling out of the local Assembly Of God property onto the highway. Hit the airhorns for about 30 seconds as I hit the anchors and and manouvered my way around this bloke (maybe he wanted to get a bit closer to his god?). Watched in my mirrors as I pulled back onto the correct side of the road.....he only went about 100 yards and then pulled off the road to go into a motel.
I don't think he even realised how close he and all his young passengers were to meeting their maker.

Cheers,

Roachie

Ok I drive a 4WD, motor bike and car (either at work or at home). Motor bikes go quick and gee they have too to get away from all those idiots in vehicles. Get ahead of the traffic and stay safe on a bike. Cars handle well you don't get wet in them but gee you feel small against trucks and some 4WD's. 4WD's well provide the safe way to see Australia as cars today will not handle the dirt roads like the old ones did (eg. the old 1969 Kingswood or Falcon) which were built from metal. The 4WD also provides a higher view on things, see the traffic ahead etc and the added protection of more metal around you - in a car I feel sort of unsafe really unless I'm in an old XY Falcon or so which is metal. Don't like the idea of a vehicle crumpling in around you as they can only crumple so far. It is alright for some that can afford a car and a 4WD but for those that can only afford one - then I will go for a 4WD as I am the type of person that wants to see Australia and get away from all those rice burner cars out there that drive round like they are in the movie Fast & Furious.
Motorbikes - I love them but I would not own a road bike as the motor cars are there just to kill you - I've got a trail bike so I can take to the dirt when some idiot runs you off the road - has happened numerous times and thank you lord that I was on a off road bike.

This is the cause of radio and bad publicity on our behalf , If a driver in a small car makes a mistake , its a accident , if a 4wd makes a mistake , its his ego . I personaly would like to hear his side of the story. We all have horror stories due to idiots on the road, and I'm fairly sure the people off here don't go running to a car forum to whinge everytime someone did something ridiculous in front of a 4wd, if we did there'd be no time to do any posts on this site....just Saturday I was waiting to turn right into a parking area for a local market down here, as it is a fairly popular event there was a queue of cars, when I got to the front and just started to make my right hand turn I noticed an idiot driving down the wrong side of the road, he dove in front of me and went into the parking area....that is actualy manned by kids with parents, (parking proceeds go to the school), had i not noticed this idiot i would have surely cleaned him up, and god knows where his car would have gone as well, I parked next to him and had a few choice words about his driving, his response was 'stuff happens"...had he not been an older citizen....and so many witnesses...

Anti4wd, ( i have other words to desribe you but im kind) Why is it that you think we are different just because we own a four wheel drive, I own 5 cars and only 2 are 4wd's so will you be on the ford forum next week when a moron pulls out in front of you in a laser or falcon. You had an accident and it is either your fault or his or both, it has nothing to do with what he drives be it truck, car, tractor,4wd, or a bloody kangaroo, Get over it.

PS funny how you watch the 4wd forum for entertainment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gee aren't we a touchy lot!!

I guess having a by line such as anti4wd is gunna turn off most people on a 4wd forum. But I guess that Anti did preface his/her story with "this isn't for all of you".

Problem as I see it is that there are more idiots driving 2wd's than there are 4wd's. Makes sense, there are more 2wd's on the road.

Trouble is that the 4bies get a lot of attention in the press and in Government. May not be fair but we need to go out of our way to prove that we are responsible and that 4wd's are no more dangerouse than small trucks, big 2wd's or whatever.

Actually I've gotta agree with anti's opinion here. Thebleepin the 4wd appears to be very arrogant and have a view that" well I'm bigger than you so get out of my way". If we all adopted that attitude the beaurocrats would be all over like a ton of bricks.

I just don't think we should be so rude to someone who has a legitimate complaint. I'm a 4wd'er and truckie for many years and there is good and bad on both sides. If we take a more civil and understanding position with people like Anti then maybe we will eventually convince thees people that most of are good blokes and the ratbags are certainly a small minority.

Bet the 4wd in question is a Toorak tractor. Full of themselves.

Cheers

Nomad

I have a car, bike and 4 wheel drive. the only accident I have ever had was caused by a car (not 4x4). You don't need a special license to drive a 4x4 so no-one on this site can ensure you will not encounter a poor driver ina car or 4x4. Let the insurance company decide who was to blame & be done with it. By all means post again if the driver of the fourby was in the wrong, but also post if the insurance company found you to blame in full or in part.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. If you have never been guilty of making a mistake whilst driving, be it going above the speed limit, not stopping at a stop sign or traffic light, driving too close to another car or pulling into a lane where a car was in your blind spot, then you are a better driver than everyone else on this site (or perhaps just blissfully naive).
