Diesel chip

JD, there is many a thread on performance chips here on the EO site. There was a very good article in 4x4 Action around issue 180 or thereabouts comparing chips including the two you mention. Both are fuel rail or fuel pulse models. My personal preference is for an integrated model as per that which I have installed into my 79 series. If you are keen to fit a chip, you should also consider fitting a 3" exhaust system and an EGT gauge.

Hi, I have a DP CHIP and am reasonably happy. But in the back of my mind Their is always a niggly feeling about the long term effect on the engine.
After a little research I am considering going down the path of engine remapping! Here is the website of the Australian Company doing themQuantum Tuning if interested, and the price is less than either of the chips.

Why do most people go for chips rather than an ECU remap? Chips are generally just an ad on and increase fuelling usually by increasing rail pressure and all other tuning parameters remain unchanged.

Remapping the ECU generally means all aspects of the tuning process are changed so that the engine copes better with the changes - as the manufacturer would have done it - Less things to worry about (like EGTs) because the ECU is still monitoring parameters and making changes as required.

I went for a ECU remap on my car and have never looked back and never had any faults or codes.
