It has become common practise to use forums such as ExplorOz to castigate retailers for their apathy towards warrant claims . . . . so here is a post with a difference!

I purchased a Waeco Urban battery pack second hand from a fellow forumite about six months ago. He had used it for five months, but had no further use for it due to the fitment of a dual battery system. The original receipt was included in case of any problems. The battery was slow to charge after our weekend to Little Desert and then wouldn't take a charge at all last week. Of course, my initial thought was "What chance have I got of getting it repaired only weeks prior to the warranty running out?"

Anyway, I took it to our closest Waeco dealer - Coast to Coast RV at Somerton (from numerous dealings I can't reccomend these guys highly enough) with the request that they attempt to have it fixed under warranty. I quizzed Aaron at Coast to Coast with regard to Waeco's response to warranty claims and his response was "Oh yeah, they're pretty good!"

G O O D ! They're bloody fantastic!!!!!!!!

Three days later Aaron rings me to tell me he has a NEW Urban battery pack in his shop for me to pick up - NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

Congratulations Waeco you have restored my faith in factory warranties.

good to hear! but I am fairly sure (I will stand corrected if wrong) that the warrenty applies only to the purcheser of the goods. Having said this it would be nearly impossible for them to prove you didnt buy it and also not in their best intrests to try

Then you would only need the original purchaser to return it for you ;-)

Totally agree that their after sales service is great. I recently bought one of their 'used demo' fridges. When it stopped working just a few days before a trip to Fraser I took the fridge one of their Brisbane agents. I told him I needed it back quick, but he explained that he was two weeks behind in repairs. He told me that as I needed it quickly, if he couldn't fix it that same day he would arrange for a loan fridge. Didn't need to get a loan fridge, he rang me the same afternoon to say it was fixed and ready to go.

Way to go.

I have nothing but praise for waeco sevice as well, purchased a cover for our cf50 whilst on holidays in Esperance WA, returned home to Adelaide with the velcro tabs torn off, rang waeco , they told me to take the cover to a camping shop in Salisbury , 2 days later had a ph call to pick up a new cover. I reckon thats excellent service , considering they could have argued that i had been to rough with the cover, but not one question asked ...........Excellent Waeco!!...........cheers .....Dave

Well sorry to dissapoint you but i can say they were no good, one fridge took three weeks the other took 6 weeks.

My brother is continuing to have problems, waeco said that his battery setup was faulty, 2 auto electricians have stated there is nothing wrong with the setup so now it has to go back again.

So in my experience there service is crap. Have you dealt with Evakool, now that is a company that knows how to treat peolple right. And as for Trailblaza, you don't need to deal with there service department. Nothing breaks.

The light had overheated in mine and melted some part which made the light stay on all the time. Took fridge with receipt to authorised Waeco service centre and they replaced the light unit on the spot.
