Hi Dodg, I may have published this before, I have an email from Toyota that confirmed that GCM is the sum of GVM plus Tow Capacity as specified in the owners manual, eg 3300kg plus 3500kg. Therefore GCM=6800kg for the single cab 79 series. Assume same formula for dual cab and/or wagon.
I have subsequently had the OME GVM
suspension upgrade, certified to the combined axle capacities of 3700kg. However, the engineers certificate clearly states that the GCM stays "as is". The engineering process can only certify the GVM up to the axle capacities.
My rego certificate lists GCM at 6800kg.
When loaded to the maximum GVM, even a small trailer has to have brakes and an additional compliance plate on the towbar stipulates this. I infer that at 3700kg GVM, I can only tow up to 3100kg GTM, (towbar weight included in the GVM).
Hope this helps too, cheers,
