I have a NISSAN GQ Diesel and have discovered the L.S.D. has given up. The question is: 1. replace, refurbish. 2. Detroit Locker or similar. 3.ARB Diff Lock. What will be the best cost effective choice. I do a lot of off road work, with some towing in the future. Any suggestions would be great. Edwin.

before spending big dollars try replacing the diff oil as lsd oil is self depleating and ends up makeing the diff make some strange sounds when turning, i had the same problem in my gq and didnt beleive changeing the oil would solve the problem. Was also told the nissan lsd is one of the stongest on the market and should stay with it if possible. Col

Be aware that LSD oil is different to normal diff oil - ensure the mechanic uses the correct stuff as this makes a significant difference too. The Nissan LSD is virtually bullet proof. Cheers - Andrew

the correct oil is 85/140 lsd oil. if you fit the more normally available 85/90 lsd oil it will shudder and wont work as good.

In Nissan Patrols Use Penrites limslip 140 not the 95 /140 We run 2 patrols a GQ and GU and you will be amazed, the patrol is the only 4wd that the 140 is suited to cures the shudders and noises makes for much beter traction and I mean MUCH better. check out I actually gave penrite my endorsmenthttp://www.penrite.com.au/db/newslist.php
