My wife has just seen on TV a compact cryovac machine from danos direct.

see http://www.danozdirect.com.au/dna.asp?cid=72||&number=FSAVER&variation=&aitem=2&mitem=44

This seems to be a good option - can buy own meat from usual supplier (who does not cryovac), can cryovac fruit and vegies etc. Also as we have an inverter looks like we can take this on long trips to allow us to keep fruit and vegies longer when out the back of nowhere.

Has anyone had experience with such a machine??

Wayne, There's a users group in Yahoo that deals with food starage etc. Have a look at { http://groups.yahoo.com/group/food-storage/ } and do a search on "vacuum". Comes up with items on vacuum storage. cheers, pen

Having performed electrical safety tests on some equipment for Danoz Direct,I would keep well clear.
