A great big vote of thanks to Heineke and Johanus, two
young men from the Coonabarabran area, who collected and carried out every scrap of rubbish from the French Line: a mammoth task. This was at the end of May. They felt a small pang at not being able to carry out the 'fridge and the abandoned white trailer! They are headed for the Top End and eventually
Broome in a yellow HJ47 Troopy with SA plates and a superb Canadian canoe on the roof rack. Give them a pat on the back if you should chance to see them, Ed

I would be very happy to thank them for cleaning up the French Line - see previous mention about cleaning up the Desert (in the uproar on trailers earlier). Maybe those people passing through the Desert might like to bring their rubbish into
Birdsville - the first place you pass after crossing the
grid from the Desert is the
Birdsville Tip - they could pop in there and leave the rubbish. I was out in the Desert at the weekend and it was spoilt by having to clean up rubbish - just off the side of the track on a claypan - especially disposable (this word does not fit) nappies.
So a big thank you to those two boys and most of the other people who do bring their rubbish out. Congratulations. Thank you Ed for bringing this to our attention.
