Yes i did have the same problem with my old 2000 model gu. It drove me nuts. Took it apart and did up every bolt and found that it was just play in the sliding mechanism and you cant do anything about it. If you get desperate go to seats r us. Also found that there was very little room for my knee to the dash. I am 6foot2. I now have an NP Pajero and it has heaps of room.

How can you not have enough room in a GU!? It's like a frigin battle ship in there! My work one (2002) does the same thing. I actually only noticed it yesterday, strange you should mention this today.
I though it was a bit rough considering the cost of these thing!
I'm 6'3" and 110kg and have plenty of room in the GU, the surf is a little snug, but to be perefectly honest I actually prefer the surf, the seats are deffinatally better! LOL

Gidday Govo,

Had the same problem in a 98 GU. Went in to the dealer just before warranty ran out and had the tracks replaced no worries. Does the base move in yours or does the seat actually rock in the tracks as mine did.
