I'm looking to get a 4 LED light strips a small battery and a small solar panel. At this stage I'm only planning on this system to be for lighting.
What suggestions do people have for the size of the battery and solar panels? The LED light bars I have been looking at only drain about 1ah.

Hi Lewie.
This is a somewhat subjective response, because you could get by with a smaller output solar panel and smaller battery, but if this was tailored purely for the lights then it would not allow much scope for other additions over time - such as a fridge or inverter etc. I suppose at the end of the day it will depend on what your budget is. I think your best bet would be to do some research on Google - this will give you a good idea of what size panel is going to replace what the amount of power is that is being drawn from the battery, taking into account available sunshine hours etc.
Cheers,
Shane

Assuming total current draw is 1amp per hour and lights run for 4 hrs a night.
Jaycar have 12 v 12 ah battery. This should give a couple of nights before needing to be charged
Also a Powertech Monocrystalline Solar Panel - 20W watt should be sufficient. You may need a small pwm regulator
As was said earlier it is probably better to plan for the future .
Do you take a computer that may be used, charging mobiles gps etc.
These take you up the next step in power
