EOI from anyone keen on a fairly quick crossing probable last week of Oct, flexible on starting date.
Happy to do this solo, but always nice to do the Simmo in company, for social and safety aspects.

I'll be in Brissy so will go via Balonne Hwy (49) and Adventure Way to Innaminka, then Walkers Crossing to Birdsville Tk, south a little to Warburton crossing, then taking Rig Rd track all to way to Dalhousie, down Perdika Tk to Oodnadatta.
Home then to Adelaide via fastest way through Coober Pedy.
It's almost 1000km fuel to fuel.

Flexible to leave with company ex Brisvegas, or meet Inna or Warburton.

Ok to do this with desert vetrans or well prepared newbies.

Your 3rd Simpson venture this year Les. Time to change your postcode ;-)
That's a route I'd like to do but the timing's wrong. And it'll be on the warm side.

Lol, you might be right about the postcode Sig.
Yeah have been keen on this Simmo access for a while, K1 up is on the list too, another time perhaps before or after a Hay River run.
Expecting temps 35 to 40, and probably a few flies :D
Might get lucky though.
Plan just a couple of nights across and quick very light crossing.
The air cond will get a workout.

Way to go.
An acquaintance did the Simpson in Oct last year & copped mid 40s. He got across quick too.

I crossed the Simpson just over 3 weeks ago and had 2 consecutive days over 40 degrees.
Shorts and t-shirt till at least 8pm most nights.

Yeah, nights should be nice, BV avg mins for Oct / Nov are 16 to 20 respectively.
Personally feel for this one will take it pretty easy, but drive an hour or so after sunup until almost dusk to minimise the 'fly time' at camp.
Might even eat lunch in the cab, and leave the motor running / air cond on :)
Must be getting a bit soft ;)

We were on the K1 and Rig Road a couple of weeks ago and where they have put new clay capping on the track the Sand is slowly reclaiming the road and it was quite soft, very white sand though compared to the Colson & Hay River Dunes

cheers

Cool sounds like it will be a great run, and very different to French or WAA Lines :)
