I'm like a pig in mud.

The new LC100 T/D GXL Auto arrived yesterday - already has the 285/75/16 Dick Cepek's on (Raised it about 20mm and puts the speedo at 96k's when doing 100k's for real.) I get to drive it - (when the profit disposal mgr lets me *grin*) until Monday when it goes in for some rooly cool toys.

Then its time to get it dirty. shhhhh.

I paid 270ea. for the 285/75/16's Road Noise is slightly louder than the factory fitted boots but SWMBC hasn't commetned at all - so thats a pretty good indication. Our previous 4b was a Grand Cherokee v8 with sports exhaust the T/D LC100 is heaps quieter so I guess I'm noticing road noise more.

Forget about the Car......

forget about the Tyres........

I just think the COOLEST THING is the " profit disposal manager "!

THAT is funny, very funny........it now has it's place in my vocabluary, and my heart!

I can see a new thread coming up on nicknames for SWMBO.

I can say that because I don't have one but there may be a few of you who could be headed for the doghouse for your contributions!

My favs are Minister of the Interior, Minister of Finance but I agree with Lupo that 'profit disposal manager' is pretty good!

Cheers

I just mentioned what you said about having a thread on nicknames for our beloved wives, and she suggested it be a password protected area, for our own well being

Nice choice Gary. But don't forget to fit an ARB locker to the front diff before putting it in low range on steep hills.
Cheers Craig. (from somone who knows 3 times)

No. I've blown 3 diffs in 40,000 KM. The front diff in a 100 is of the same size as that in a Hilux but with the added weight they are not strong enough. The current thinking is the diff carrier flex's allowing the cogs to separate slightly then bang!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of teeth off the crown wheel.
Toyota seem to put their head in the sand when told of the problem but will replace them under warrenty no questions asked.
After fitting a diff lock I've had no problem since and have not heard of one one letting go that wasn't abused.
Each time they blew, the front wheel was scambling for traction in first low then the tyre grabbed.
The diff doesn't need to be locked to avoid blowing it up. ARB's carrier is machined & bolted together making it alot stiffer. Cheers Craig............
