Hi Landie, Drove along it six months ago & found to be in good condition. There were sections being upgraded & widened. Still some gravel sections but most should be sealed by now. Cheers.

Apparenly only about 10k of dirt left. Being used more regularly. No heavy rain this time of year so all should be well.

I lived in Townsville from 87 - 95 (great to be back in civilisation, Melb). During that time I lived in Kelso from 91 - 95 and used the road to get to the speedway out at the Bohle regularly. This cut out the trip through the "city". It was only a well graded and "gravelled" dirt road. Could easily be travelled at 80 - 90 km/h unless someone was ahead of you putting up a dust cloud (it doesn't rain often in Townsville).

Unless something has changed (and it should be better not worse) it is nothing worse than a "secondary" road. Of course up to date local information would be more useful.

Jim.

Road is usually in good condition. Can be a bit of Army traffic to and from the training grounds up there

Landie,

Boy am I glad I don't have to rely on Jimbo.

The road to the Speedway is actually Shaw Road and for Jimbo's benefit is now sealed.

Harvey's Range Road as someone else suggested has only a few kms left unsealed.

I live in Townsville and use it regularly.

Gordon

I just came over it about a week ago and there would be about 10 k dirt. One of the detours is the same one I was on 11 months ago so things move slowly up there. The dirt was OK.
