Camper Covers

I have a cab over 4wd and a camper van and both take the same size covers.

In the past I have used various brands and types, including the silver single layer covers and the softer multi layer fabric style covers. All supposedly UV stable but in reality they are far from that.

One of the multilayer types rotted in only 3 months and the others generally get to about 12 months old before they have to be replaced. I have little option to store my gear out in the open, hence the covers to keep them protected - less worried about waterproofing but UV stability (real rather than just stated) is a definite requirement.

So I am looking for recommendations for covers that will not fail due to UV breakdown in less than a year - I need covers that will fit 4.5m long camper vans, so only 2/3 the height of similar sized caravans.

Thanks

Garry

I use 2 covers, it is always the top of the cover that goes, sides remain good for ages so I just buy a cheap cover that just does the roof from somewhere like Bunnings and then bin it when it goes and replace with another cheapie.

Put a tarp over it all. Works for me.

Hi,
I put a cover over it and then the tarp over that.

The cover is of soft material and doesn't scratch and the silver tarp keeps the sun and rain off and protects the cover.

Tarps are cheaper to replace!

Thanks for the comments - yes already considered the tarp but damages the canvas on my truck.

I take it that there is a suitable dedicated cover that is UV stable and can withstand the outdoors - and do the function that they are supposed to do.

Cheers

Hi Garry
I have cover for my AOR Quantum camper, from Caravan and Motorhome Covers Australia. They are at Forest Glen on Sunshine Coast
Very good quality (not cheap) and I expect to get many years life from it
They have a web site caravancovers.com.au
