Hi , are there any good remote bush camps along the river roughly half way between Wodonga and Mildura.

Some good bush spots on the river at Wemen, not far from Robinvale.

Grab a copy of Wiki Camps and search for Murray. Heaps of good spots, check out around Echuca, it's about half way!

Wiki Camps gives a map of the location using Google Maps.

Hi Rob,

A great place to camp is around Torrumbarry, 20 minutes northwest of Echuca. Head down headworks Rd and you can access the river at Horseshoe Bend. Lots of places to camp.

We stayed a few years ago at quiet spot called Passage camp, on southern side of the Murray a few km west of Swan Hill. The access track runs 4 or 5km in from the main road.
Plenty of space, but just make sure you don't go in there if it's wet - we got caught in a big overnight thunder storm; the river came up quite quickly and the access track turned to slush.
Alternatively, if you don't mind a bit more company and being near to a town, the river camp at Tocumwal is a good spot.

Ditto for that.
We used to live on Gunbower Island.
Hubby still pines for it.
A favourite evening was spent with the camp oven by the river.
It was very popular with locals but there's usually a vacant bend somewhere (unless it's Easter!).
Again, careful of rain. It rained one Easter for the first time in something like 17 years (April was notoriously dry). Those who knew got out of there. Those who didn't, paid the farmers to rescue them with their tractors!
We used to watch lots of regular vans go past our front gate in the lead-up to holidays so I'd assume the tracks are all still as good.
Fishing was lousy but it was still a superb way to pass time.
