Hi,

The 2011 D40 I believe has an ECU controlled alternator, you'll most likely find the charge voltage drops to a very low level after a few minutes.

I also believe the smart charge function can be disabled by disconnecting a wire and the charging will then revert to fixed voltage charging.

Do a search of the net for green wire and blue wire mod for the D40.

Cheers

I didn't worry about green wire mod. I just unplugged the plug at the negative battery terminal on what I think is called a shunt and it reverts to a normal alternator. Puts out at least 14 volts all the time. Been running it like that for over a year with no problems. Can plug it back in for servicing or whenever. I did tape up the loose plug though to keep it clean.
