Hi all. I would like to mount my portable solar panel on a pole on the drawbar of my van. only for when stationary.
It should be so it can be turned to follow the sun.
Has anybody seen something like that somewhere or have photos
of one?
Thanks
Jorgen

I've been thinking of doing something similar with this setup

Nice, good to see this tracking technology becoming more affordable.
Good for long base camps, caras, or home set up.

Apparently these setups can have there down sides.
This from Rons link.......
--------------
CAUTION:
Never approach a solar tracker while the ECOWORTHY Solar Tracker electronics are “on”.
The solar tracker can move unexpectedly and the powerful linear actuator/motor can cause serious injury or death.
Always disconnect the ECOWORTHY Solar Tracker electronics from its power supply before approaching the solar tracker.
--------------
Probably not an issue when bush camping, but could create problems with other inquisitive campers about.

Think it's an issue when firing it up, it operates to find the sun, actuator is powerful enough to trap / crush in some cases most likely.
Once going it would move very slowly.

It is a disclaimer just like any other warning label or fineprint in the manual. Designed to protect the manufacturer/ retailer from liability from people who lack common sense.

Using a large diameter piece of exhaust tube with a long slot in one side, ie, drill a hole and use thin cutoff wheel to make a long slot in the tube.
That will then slide over the jockey wheel tube outer diameter and also past the handle.
The top can be a smaller dia of exhaust tube with an appropriate fitting to take the solar panel frame.

No additional brackets or fitting would be required to add to the van.

If your'e parked under a tree - it's a problem, so then you need a portable panel to chase the sun, so really you only need the portable panel - or the one you want on a pole to chase the sun, 1 or 2.

Solar panels are so cheap now mount them on the van with controller and battery and forget about it.Dont worry about the sun there is plenty of it,people will tell you it will never work to much shade and trees it will.
