I have been given a 30" satellite dish and all the connections and am looking at a 12v TV. However, I am not familiar with the satellite system and need to know:
1. is it compatible with 12v TV's
2. what is needed to connect to a satellite system (contract, procedures, etc.)
3. it has a 'box' which I am told may need to be replaced to connect with a provider.
Any help will be appreciated.

In answer to your specific questions;
1/ Any TV that has either HDM1 and/or RCA type inputs will work with a satellite decoder box.
2/ For access to the VAST system you will need a VAST approved set top box, there are no access fees as this is free to air TV. You will have to register your box either against an address where the normal TV can not be received, or as a Traveller in which case you renew the registration every 6 months, again no fee and is almost instant if tuned into the satellite.
3/ This will depend on the box, should it be for the old system then it will have to be replaced with one that works on the VAST system.
Further information can be found on www.mysattv.com.au.
Hope this helps.
