Just read an article on Aston Martin's first foray into the SUV market, the DBX
Due out in 2020 and sounds like it could be a good addition to the market. Doesn't mention the towing capabilities but states 4.5sec 0–100km/h and 291km/h top speed. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

A pretty pointless effort in my books.
Whats the payload?
Can you put m2 of gravel in the back?
Is it a practical solution to punt down a forest track?

Considering I don't have a ski resort, I view 95% of the SUV market are completely impractical. Its not exactly in line with the rest of the product line either, they only did it because everyone else was.

I'd say 95% of people who buy SUV's would disagree with you. What makes them impractical ?? Most drive as nice as a car....they are easier to get in and out of than a car....some have AWD, which allows easier going in that rare wet paddock or steep dirt track. They are not a replacement for a 4wd, but everyone knows that.

Soccer mums, helicopter mums, weekend warriors and all manner of city slickers will love it. Just another useless vehicle on offer for those with too much money and lacking in the brains department

I'd be keeping it below 250 on the Oodnadatta Track...

At a bit under 250kmh the many dips would simply appear as a wide pothole. Around 250 seems appropriate. The 0 to 100kmh figure would certainly help in quickly getting away from the tiger snakes , any snake in fact. We will have plenty of time to pull over to let them through because of the approaching dust plume.

Oodnadatta to Marla in under the hour seems attractive too. No roses to smell they say!
