Gday all, I'm still having issues with my chescold F400. It works fine on 240v and I never use the 12v but it's not cooling on gas like it used to. This fridge has been used for a few years constantly. I have tried shaking it around upside down back to front and side ways. Also cleaned out the flue and jet and thermocouple multiple times all clean no obstructions. But it just wont cool. The flame is going strong. Any ideas or help? Thanks

Which flame is going strongly?
The pilot flame or the main burner with a volume of flame. Unless there is a scorching heat exiting the flue it may be burning but not enough flame BTU’s being developed. Is the flame a nice blue. If not, the airflow to the jet tube may be restricted. Wasp or spiders perhaps. PS. The exit heat on gas has to be far more than when on 240v.

Thanks RMD I am only aware of one flame, the one coming out of the slits that connect to the gas line? I can see it at the bottom rear vewing window. I have cleaned the the jet out. The heat coming out the flue is not scorching hot and seems to be the same amount off heat as when using 240v. How can I increase the flame BTU's the flame is nice and blue. Were is the airflow to the jet tube? I have blown out the whole gas tube with compressed air.

For flame to be a nice blue it seems about right but the air which mixes with the gas as it leaves the jet has to have an air inlet to the injector/mixer. Just maybe obstructed a little where air goes into the mixer area. Good you tried another reg/hose to
check. How long did you run it with the alternate reg? Was it long time ?Yours may be a little down on pressure delivery as Bob Y mentioned below. Full cooling wouldn't be experienced for a while when all is OK. A quick
check may not have identified yours as below par. Regs usually run at about 1 to 1.5PSI in the hose so hard to detect if not right and if not correct the gas and energy value will be lower to the burner.

All the parts have been cleaned very
well with no obstructions. I used the other reg and hose and had it on for 7 hours and still did hot cool the fridge. I cant understand why the flame is good but no cooling at all. How does the gas side of it work? I assume the flame heats up the the tube through the flue? Like the 240v element right? I have two of these fridges and both are doing the same thing even with a brand new thermostat. What else could it be? Thanks

Depending on their age, Scott, I'd be thinking about a new regulator, and if fitted, a new braided flexible hose. Don't know how long regulators last, but those braided hoses don't last much more than 1-2 years in extreme conditions.
Seems like you have everything else going okay?

Thanks Bob Y it is fairly old but has been keeps
well. I will try changing the regulator and hose and see how that goes. I doubt it will change as I have tried another hose and reg to no avail. Are there any of these gas fridges still available new? Or anyone that
services gas fridges around the
Gold Coast or Lismore? Thanks

If the reg and hose you tested before were okay, then probably not worth trying the same thing again. I searched on Yellow Pages and got 128 hits on "gas fridge repair" on
Gold Coast. Also found this, it's now a Dometic:
