Yep Barry !
That's it.
Does it count if you haven't been there? Must have been a google find. Ha.
STOCKTON DUNES - WORIMI NATIONAL
PARK
26th May 1974,
Port Stephens experienced a severe storm. 185 km/h winds forced Norwegian ship "Sygna" on to
the beach. This was it's maiden voyage. There was numerous salvage attempts but the remains of the ship still rests there today.
Cheers

I can remember getting on board in 1977 there use to be a little cable car from
the beach to the wreak you sat in & hand peddled out, that was before the fire in the bridge area & back then you could climb down into the engine room that was below the
water line
The bow was towed into Nelsons Bay & was there for a while & there was a tug strike or something like that so no help could be given to the Sygna until it was to late & she broke its back
I learnt sand driving on the
Stockton dunes a group of us would go there all the time 2 x XY 4x4 falcons, lj-50 Suzuki, 3 speed Toyota, & a 3 speed Patrol
Who remembers the
old engine tyre pump that you use to take out one of the spark plugs so you could inflate your tyres

Hi Vince
Good info, I didn't know much about the wreck.
Yes I used to have one of those spark plug hoses to pump up my tyres in early '80s
Back before i ever owned a 4wd. Used to go everywhere in a Datsun 180B !

Think there's still one of those spark plug hoses buried in the shed somewhere :) Used on a Subaru in the 80s.

Was called a 'Menzel' pump. Had one around the early '70s.

Easy with Google.
I'll leave it to others who have travelled more than I to answer.
