My Baby Q is 11 years old, the igniter 'went to god' last time I used it (last week).
I rang the company in SA yesterday, told them of my dilemma, gave them the serial number of my unit bearing in mind the igniter is only warranted for five years....in this mornings mail is a complete replacement igniter unit LESS than 24 hrs from the original phone call & TOTALLY free of charge....THANK YOU WEBER!
We love our Weber, ......from cooking meat/steaks, roasts, cakes, pizzas, bacon & eggs it's the bee's knees!
Not at all familiar with the Ziggy

I had the same experience.
Totally surprised at the extremely professional courteous correspondence from the Weber people and to receive a free replacement was fantastic.

You've started it Now
Weber Baby Q v/s Ziggy !
There are fanatics on both camps, some swear at the Ziggy
camp and some swear at the Baby Q
camp.
I had the standard Pensioner Pack High Lid Baby Q Weber and couldn't get a steak to Sear ( texas style - fully seal the outside ) and I don't like stewed meat at BBQs !!!!!
I got a Ziggy and Man the difference!
Steak fully Texican'd and bbq'd to perfection.
The Ziggy is heavier than the Weber but with the single burner and it's fold under lid to me it was a better deal
Only thing I did extra to the Ziggy as to carefully mark and drill extra holes so the lid could be left half open as a wind deflector .

For me, when I am in the market again the question will be
“Which is the easiest to clean”
They both perform probably similar, with only a handful of points differentiating them, and both can bbq a good steak.
It is the cleaning however that can be a pain.

I have 2 q’s. A baby in the camper and a family at
home. As above, their after sales is second to none, as are the construction materials. I’d happily go the same again. I have no experience with the Ziggy so cannot comment which will be best for you.

Shane, no haven't seen that one, have seen a couple, but thought I would ask the brains trust. I imagine a lot would go with, as one presenter said, "the one that fitted, not the best", LOL.

Ziggy on special at the moment, but nil stock at present. Expected to arrive in Melb. around 10 - 12th this month . My wife has done her research & we will be purchasing the Ziggy pay now & pick-up when stock comes in at the specials price. Only problem we're going away on the 12th so won't get it until we come
home. I like the idea of more heat as I don't like BBQs with the lid closed, it's not a BBQ but baked imo & it packs away smaller

Another vote & happy owner of the baby Q . Not only a great bbq to
cook on but very easy to clean inside and out aswel already mentioned after sale service.
We would
cook on ours 3/4 times a week on average over many years .

I wouldn't go either.....both overpriced very small bbq.
I use a small stainless marine BBQ, has a rectangle shaped plate, which is all plate, so you can
cook eggs etc on .....for $200.

Also comes with a grill plate....if you want to do a roast.
I do a roast in an oven bag, saves cleaning up.

I had the midsize Webber q with the high lid. Now have the small Ziggy.
Both good, but going the Ziggy gets a bit hotter and has a more even temp.

I am looking at both at present as
well, but I am leaning towards the Ziggy. The Q seems to need to be used with the lid closed where as the Ziggy is a lid open style of cooking. I prefer the bbq style. I am aware that you can use a BabyQ with the open lid, but friends of
mine tell me the results are not as good.
Goodluck.

All Q's are definitely designed to work lid down all the time.

You can
cook lid open on a Weber....I bought a one piece flat plate for my Baby Q and
cook bacon and eggs on it etc with the lid open...and anyone that says you can’t or it’ll damage the bbq are likely just repeating what they’ve read elsewhere, because it works fine and no issues on
mine doing so the past year and a half.

This is the one I have. I prefer to use it as a normal type bbq, and I only
cook sausages, eggs, bacon, steak, onions, hash browns, bread rolls, and the very occasional roast.
If you get one of these make sure it comes with a flat plate as
well. The plate weighs nearly as much as the bbq.

I was talked into getting a Baby Q, and had one delivered in a few days using Qantas frequent flyer (buyer) points. There are certain
places it is useful and the price was ok.
