Bit early, I know, but might be busy tomorrow. This shouldn't present many problems, but interesting features.
Cheers

Yes Stu, you are right, it is the Mt Moffatt N.P.
A great little
park, with some terrible roads, typical of NP's these days, but some interesting
places to visit.
Do you know what this formation is called, and what newsworthy event happened in the
park many moons ago ?
Cheers

G'day Jim,
I certainly remember being on some Blacksoil tracks off the main access & thinking "I hope it does not rain"!
There was a story I heard but for the life of me I cannot remember. I could google it I guess but go ahead & tell us about the event.
Cheers
Stu

OK Stu here goes. By the way the formation is
The Chimneys.
Also in the
park is this
memorial
Foul Deed
The photo is of a
memorial plaque for a murdered policeman. Interestingly, when staying at a
Roma motel (
Carnarvon), I got talking to a "gardner", who turned out to be a policeman who had actually mounted the
plaque on
the rock. By the way , there's a great place for breakfast in
Roma, called Bakearoma ..... really good.
Anyway, the story is about the Kenniff brothers, alleged cattle thieves, who were eventually nabbed. One escaped and returned to kill the policeman and the station manager, with a backtracker escaping the carnage.
The Kenniffs were eventually apprehended and one hanged.
Here's a comprehensive account ........

Thanks Jim.
I remember the story now.
It's a great spot with less visitors than the main sections of the
park.
Your link requires a login but found plenty of info after you mentioned the Kenniffs.

Login ? That's funny, I just found it when I Googled. Just went straight to the page, no login or anything.
Pity, as it was the best account I had found.

Hi Jim
I own the ex-police boat "George Doyle" named in his honor.

That's brilliant. I read about the police boat named after Doyle, and wondered if it was still in use, one way or another.
There's quite a story behind it.
Cheers
